Before designing anything, I spent time in TransMilenio terminals watching operators work. They split attention constantly between the screen and the station floor. The information they needed was spread across systems and lagged behind what was actually happening. By the time data appeared on-screen, the window to act had often closed. The problem wasn't more information — it was timing and hierarchy.

Door Control Interface

A dashboard shows data. This had to drive action. Every second an operator spends interpreting a screen is a second not spent on the station floor. The interface was designed to reduce that cost: the right information visible by default, with clear paths to what to do next — nothing to parse.

Operational Routines

Every workflow was built around one constraint: visibility has to earn its place. The state model for each gate — open, closed, manual, error, anti-panic, no network, emergency — was designed so an operator could read the situation in a glance and act. What showed by default and what required a deliberate action was the most important call in the system.
